Doing What is Right at The Right Time
“For the Philippines to really go up, I said: What
the people need is not martial law. Go for what Cory did – revolutionary
government. But don’t look at me. I cannot go there.”
Thus quoting a statement from his Excellency President Rodrigo Duterte during an oath taking of appointees in Malacañang last August 29,2017 regarding the formation of a so-called revolutionary government. Without taking it out of context, it is quite clear how definitive the statement is. The President’s stand to uplift the lives of the Filipino to the next level will be done within the bounds of the Philippine Constitution, and not beyond.
This was also echoed by National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon,
Jr. stating that any rumored destabilization attempt to the current
Duterte-Administration is “nothing but political noise reaching decibel 3 level
at best.” Just “Political Noise” indeed! And that glaring truth was seen and
shone the brightest during the annual celebration of Bonifacio Day.
November 30 is a National Public Holiday commemorating the birth of one
of the nation’s notable revolutionary leaders in Philippine history, Andres
Bonifacio. The acknowledge “Father of the Philippine Revolution and Supremo of
the Katipunan,” Bonifacio’s strong desire to free his Motherland from
Spanish colonialism lit the fire; leading to a series of revolts towards
Philippine independence.
Sad to say that such celebration becomes tainted by haphazard actions of
those who wish to take advantage of an event that champion a “notable
revolutionary figure in history.” It seems these people want a bigger bite out of the political pie, and together with those who make money out of
chaos, they bask under the success of an unorthodox process.
Such was the scene
at Mendiola as a sea of red once again took their act to the streets calling
for RevGov; a cry to declare a formation of a revolutionary government.
Question is, why still push for something that is already set aside by none
other than the President himself? Can’t people just do something productive and
spend time wisely rather than hug the coattails of destabilizers and
opportunists?
What these detractors and opposing factions don’t know is that the
beauty of having a President like Mr. Duterte is that he is not just a “Man of
Action,” but proved to all that he is also a “Thinking President.” Just look at
how the leaders of other great nations speak highly of President Duterte as a
“recognized leader in the international community.” And this coming from the
likes of United States President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir
Putin, President Xi Jinping of China, and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo
Abe. How about topping the list as the World’s Most Influential Person in
TIME Magazines’ 2017 TIME 100? Now that, needs no further proof and literally
speaks for itself.
To-date, President Rodrigo Duterte has amassed opportunities from
various sources around the globe, and all these to uplift the lives of
Filipinos the world over. He regained the trust of both local and foreign
businesses --- creating jobs and opportunities which were non-existent in the
not so distant past.
It is high time for everyone to do his or her own share and support
those who strive to make a change for the better. Remember, every
positive effort that we make, whether big or small, contribute to the greater
good.
