Getting a taxi has always been a problem for Pinays and tourists in the Philippines. Most especially rush hours or rainy days or  you  may even experience both  - the rush hour + rainy day combo. 

There are many reasons to why it's so hard to catch a cab  in the Philippines because sometimes: - 

• After the taxi driver asks you for your destination, they will set an unfair price and not use the meter anymore. It's that or if they do use the meter, they'll ask you to add another 50-100 pesos to make up for the gas while you were stuck in traffic... and everybody knows how bad the traffic is in the Philippines. 
• Taxi drivers often choose their own route in heading to your destination. They either prolong the journey for the meter to keep going or to ask you for an extra charge, like mentioned above.

Once there is an available and nearby driver, you can see how far he is and how long it would take him to get to you. 

When booked, you get to know the name of your driver, his phone number, his plate number and the model of his vehicle so you can easily see him while you wait. 

Another option when it comes to getting taxi rides is calling LBR Taxi or Pink taxi. They are usually accommodating and have saved me in many  times when I need a taxi the most. They are both wide taxi companies. Usually, you just call them leave your phone number, name, time and place of pick up and destination and they will get back to you later on by texting you the details of the taxi you ordered. 

All the above taxi using meters, but a passenger must have to add about 70 - 100 pesos  and sometimes they have a promo which you will add on only 1 pesos or more or  2 free rides for your first ride after signing up their apps. 

Uber is also one of the easiest ways to call a taxi you can pay credit card. 

Adding more than the meter  price is better  to pay than to  have lucks or argue  with a taxi driver or having  a headache and waiting around for more than an hour  for a taxi.
