Light of the Family: My Mom

• She’s the woman that makes sure you go to sleep before she does and doesn’t complain even once about it. 

• She’s the one you call for when you wake up in the middle of the night from a nightmare.

• She’s the one who takes you in at bed late at night, and makes you breakfast first thing in the morning.

•  She’s the one you look for when something is bothering you. 

• She’s the one you shout and slam the door at when some things just won’t go your way, but she will wait for you to come back to her, anyway. 

• She’s the one who holds your hand when you get your flu shot at the doctor’s.

•  She’s the one who has never backed down from a fight, especially when it’s regarding you. 

• She’s the one who makes sure you’re alright all the time 24/7. 

• She’s the one who calls you 30 times more when you don’t pick up the first time. 

• She’s the one that works hard every day to keep everything in place. 

• She’s the one who cleans up after you. 

• She’s the one that makes sure you pick the right friends and the right clothes. 

• She’s the one that goes out of her way for the costumes for your school recitals, shows and etc. 

• She’s the one that drags you all the way to these different lessons or classes. 

• She’s the one that nags at you to pick this up or pick that up or do this or do that. 

• She’s the one that screams at you for God knows what reason. 

• She’s the one that reminds you every day of the saying “That the people who love you truly will stick around no matter how hard it is.” She’s living proof of that saying. 

• She’s the one that sticks around. She makes sure you grow up right. 

• She makes sure you take your medicines. 

• She’s the person that grills your soon to be partner in life just so she knows you’ll be in good hands.

• She’s the one you can trust with your life. 

• She’s the one you can tell all about your day. 

• She’s your confidant, your listener, and your best friend.

• She makes sure you can make at least one home cooked meal. 

• She’s the one that teaches you practical life tricks.

•  She’s the one that raises you to be street smart and aware. 

• She’s the one that teaches you that you can’t get everything out of life. 

• She’s the one that teaches you to be practical. 

• She’s the one that teaches you to be responsible when things are given to you. 

• She’s the one that makes you feel the love you deserve as a person and reminds you of your worth.

•  She’s working hard and putting a lot of effort and love into everything. 

• She sacrifices more than just her time. She gives everything she can possibly can. 

• She’s the one that teaches you a lot of things, but she teaches you to become disciplined in the process.

•  She’s the one that not only drives you crazy, but drives you to be a good person. 

• She’s the one that pushes you, not physically, but emotionally and mentally by pushing you to become the best possible version of yourself.

Yet, she’s often unappreciated. She’s often misunderstood. She’s often discouraged. She’s often disheartened by words and actions some people may throw at her. But here’s another thing, she is strong. Stronger than anything else, because only she can handle heartbreak after heartbreak and still manage to love the people who hurt her unconditionally and never ever doubt them. 

You know, she’s kind of oblivious sometimes to the fact that the people she loves... love her more than anything in the world. She doesn’t know that everyone is so hooked on her love that we need her around all the time. She doesn’t know that we appreciate her for everything she has given us. She doesn’t know that someday all this hard work and sacrifices will be worth it. She doesn’t know that she means the world to the people she loves because she’s way too busy giving out her love. She doesn’t know the saying that goes “The more you give out to the world, it returns to you doubled.” In her case, it returns to her in a million doubled.

She’s a whole lot of things, but she’s more than enough. She’s the one person you should never ever give up on because she will never give up on you. She’s your mom.
