Our Family Wedding
“10 yrs, 8 months and 4 days today – to be exact since we
expressed our love for each other. We’ve been into countless odds where it
seems that this day has remained into our bucket list forever. God has been so
amazing and so loving that despite all He led us to this road and here we are
to receive His blessing. I am deeply humbled by His Love that through the
years, God never failed to listen to my silent
prayer – to find the man that I will love even more everyday despite all. It’s
not the years that I’ve known you but the growing feeling of love that I feel
for you, everyday.” The
bride, uttering her vows to the man of her dreams. “
Last April, I was able to witness the
ceremony of matrimony between one of my nieces and her fiancé in our hometown.
Weddings are weddings, may they be grand or simple, it is still a wedding. A
moment which the soon-to-be couple’s loved ones would gather around from all
parts of the world to celebrate the massive and important milestone they were
taking.
I saw my niece and Boy; you could just tell
from the way she talked and carried herself, you could hear it her voice, how
she was so excited and perfectly contented with everything. You could
definitely tell how happy she was because of the way she smiled; it was so
genuine and real. She was nothing less than a gorgeous blooming and radiant
bride. And the groom you might ask? He was dashing and you could see the traits
of a good man, he handled himself well in front of the families and you could
tell by the way he shook your hand and greeted you at the door that he was set
and ready to get hitched with the love of his life.
It’s funny because time decided to hit me
right across the face and made me go through a couple of flash backs, I saw the
times that this niece of mine and the rest of the cousins were so young back
then, playing in the garden or on the streets, asking me for toys and gifts
while I was just looked over them. I liked just watching them grow and figure
things out for themselves but little did I know that time worked fast and it flew
right past me. It felt like I just took a blink and now, right before my very
eyes are the very same kids I looked after but much more bigger and taller,
more beautiful and handsome, more responsible and smarter than ever. It was crazy
to see them the same way. I realized that they were getting married, one by
one. While others, just graduated, they had jobs; a couple even had kids and a
lot going on in their lives.
And To think that one of those crazy kids in
our family was going to walk down in her beautiful gown as a glowing bride to
wed the man of her dreams. It was so overwhelming. What a sight to see. These
kids aren’t kids anymore, they’re walking down the aisle one by one and being
able to see one of the do that, it fills you with a certain kind of joy in your
heart because it gives you so much pride to see how your loved ones are
handling themselves; doing so well and being able to have created such a
beautiful thing out of life. All kinds of emotions filled the air when they wed
but all of them were good emotions, the kind that makes you ask; “Okay, who’s
next?”
