Grape Juice "Good For The Heart"
Grape juice can give the same benefits red wine offer provided that the grape juice is not loaded with sugar.
Red or purple grapes particularly the skin and seeds were scientifically proven to lower the risk of heart disease because of its antioxidant resveratrol, relaxing the blood vessels.
Pure grape juice, especially those made from dark purple grapes, contain high levels of resveratrol. However, grape juice drinks has fewer benefits since it is not concentrated and contain only eight to 10 percent of grape extract.
Recent studies found that red and purple grape juices may provide some of the same heart benefit s of red wine. It helps reduce the risk of blood clots, reduce low-density lipoprotein (LDL or “bad” cholesterol); prevent damage to blood vessels in the heart and help maintain a healthy blood pressure.
Both red wine and grape juice also contain antioxidants called flavonoids, which have been shown to increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL., or “good” cholesterol), and lower the risk of clogged arteries (atherosclerosis), and may help lower blood pressure.
The same goes with eating whole red or purple grapes. Some research suggests eating whole grapes also delivers the same antioxidants that are in grape juice and wine aside from the benefits of fiber.
The recent findings on concentrated grape juice will surely benefit people who wish to drink it without alcohol. Red wine should be limited to one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men.
